The GATE Master Guide Club successfully conducted its annual camping program at the scenic Ialong Park, Meghalaya, from 17–19 April 2026. Surrounded by rolling hills, flowing rivers, and fresh mountain air, the camp brought together 44 Master Guides in Training for a deeply meaningful experience of learning, fellowship, and spiritual growth. The program was led by MG Kristen George (Camp Director) and MG Cleaning Lyngdoh (Club Director), with the dedicated support of MG Lovingson Kharpran, club staff, and counselors, whose commitment ensured the smooth and successful conduct of every activity.

Under the inspiring theme, “With Christ: Above the Clouds,” drawn from Colossians 3:2 “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” the entire camp was shaped around the call to lift one’s focus beyond the temporary and anchor life firmly in Christ. From the very beginning, as campers arrived, rain threatened to disrupt the schedule; yet, by God’s providence, the weather cleared, allowing tents to be set up without delay. This early moment set a tone of anticipation, purpose, and trust in divine leading. The opening ceremony, marked by flag hoisting, reminded everyone that this was not merely a camp, but a training ground for future leaders in God’s service.

As the days unfolded, the camp came alive with purposeful activity. Campers engaged in honors such as Rivers and Streams, gaining both knowledge and a deeper appreciation for God’s creation. The Sabbath was observed with reverence through Sabbath School and the Divine Service held in the open air, where hearts were drawn closer to God in worship and reflection. The peaceful environment of Ialong Park enriched every moment, allowing participants to experience a quiet, personal connection with the Creator.

The program also included nature crafts and a lively AY program, where local church youth joined in fellowship. Practical training sessions encouraged creativity, confidence, and teamwork. Drill practices and the Fancy Drill Competition added energy and discipline, shaping the campers into more coordinated and responsible individuals. One of the most memorable highlights was the hike through the beautiful surroundings of Ialong Park, leading to moments of joy, exploration, and a refreshing time by the river. Laughter, shared experiences, and simple moments of togetherness strengthened the bonds among participants.

Throughout the camp, responsibilities such as assigned duties and personal discipline played a vital role in shaping character. Each activity, whether large or small, contributed to the overall goal of preparing these young leaders to guide and serve others within the Seventh-day Adventist Church and beyond. As the final day approached, campers packed their belongings, cleaned the campsite, and offered a prayer of gratitude for the place and its caretakers. They carried home not only memories, but lessons that will remain with them for a lifetime.

Special appreciation is extended to Jowai Church, MG Amri Lyngdoh, and all who contributed for their warm hospitality and generous support, which greatly enriched the camp experience. Sincere gratitude is also conveyed to the Khasi Jaiñtia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for their encouragement and backing. The unwavering support of the GATE Adventist Theological College administration, the El Bethel Church, and generous donors through both financial assistance and earnest prayers played a significant role in making this camp a success.

As the campers journeyed back, despite minor challenges along the way, their hearts were filled with gratitude for God’s protection, guidance, and abundant blessings throughout the program. This camp was more than an event it was a transformative experience that strengthened faith, built character, and prepared each Master Guide in Training to serve with Christlike love and leadership.

“To God be the glory for great things He has done.”
